REVISITING THE ZODAWA POW WOW of AuSable, Michigan

Join us as We visit the Zogdawa Pow Wow in Ausable Michigan before it's discontinuance.

Barry Stutesman visits with an organizer, the late Susie Nighawan (Fox Lady) who tells him how the event was organized and what the response was to the event's premier in Ausable Michigan in Iosco county back in the 1990s.

While visiting the second annual event our guests included not only Fox Lady...but Native American Linguist Kenny Pheasant. Kenny Pheasant gives an optomistic outlook on the growing interest in the next generation in their search for their Native American Roots.

Also in this historic segment we visit with a "Jingle dress" dancer and feature historic footage of Oscoda historian Jerry Wangler.

Although the Zogdawa Pow Wow faded into the sunset...It's inspiration continued with countless Native Americans and Non Natives alike acquiring a greater understanding and appreciation of Michigan's true Native Michiganders.

Enjoy
